Olumoh Praise Jakande at 90

The Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday eulogised Alhaji Lateef Jakande, the first Civilian Governor of the state for his selfless service and great achievements as he clocks 90 years.
The Majority Leader of the House, Mr Sanai Agunbiade raised the matter during plenary and the lawmakers took turns to pour encomiums on the nonagenarian.
The House said that Jakande, who ruled the state between 1979 and 1983, had affected lives of many people, including some of them through his landmarks in education.
Blazing the trail, Mr Setonji David (APC-Badagry II) described Jakande as a great mentor, great leader with so many numerous achievements.
David, reeling out various feats of Jakande , said it would be difficult to find a state governor that would match Jakande’s performance in four years in education, housing, public works and social amenities.
Mr, Yinka Ogundimu (APC-Agege II) said that Jakande was a man of vision and direction who laid foundation for greater Lagos.
In his words, Mr Tunde Braimoh (APC-Kosofe II) said: “Jakande did a lot with power. He stands tall among his peers though many of them had passed away’’.
According to him, Jakande remains a reference point of selfless service and administration and a contented politician.
Other lawmakers took turns to hail Jakande impactful achievement.
The beautiful and the most interesting part of the eulogise was when the August house call on the lawmaker representing Ajeromi Ifelodun constituency l Hon. Lukmon Olumoh to contribute.
Olumoh, while speaking thanked the speaker for given him the opportunity to speak for the second time on the floor added several achievements of the celebrant saying it will not be completed without mentioning the Lagos State Sectariat which the state enjoys today is the hand writing of Pa Jakande as he seek permission from the speaker to praise the celebrate with his dialect and went down memory lane to praise the him in his yoruba oriki stating “Omo Olomu Aperan, Omo Olowa Agogode” e.t.c before the whole floor put to smile and join the praiser to recite the full version of the praise.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the House, Mr Mudashiru Obasa said: “We thank God for giving us Alhaji Lateef Jakande in Lagos State. He gave us hope education, exposure and civilisation.
“He did all these just in four years. We are joining Lagosians and Nigeria at large to celebrate Alhaji Lateef Jakande.
“We, members of the 9th Assembly hereby celebrate with him and wish him happy birthday
Obasa directed the Clerk of the House, Mr Azeez Sanni to send a congratulatory letter to Jakande.
