The wife of Ondo State Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu has expressed optimism that BEMORE girls will not only become leaders in technology but also in all endeavours especially politics where their voices are desperately needed.
August24news.com gathered that Mrs. Akeredolu stated this at the closing ceremony of the 2019 BEMORE Summer Boot Camp held at the main auditorium of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) where over 250 girls who participated in the camp received laptops.
According to her, BEMORE camp is structured to chart a new course in the lives of its participants, thus the girls have been fed so well to cause an unending hunger in them for a better world.
“The girls now hunger to become somebody in life and are eager to experience another world other than what they knew and grew up in. They are angered by what our nation has become and determined to place their hands on the wheel of change and steer it without fear or fright.
BEMORE Camp is a grooming ground for a new breed without greed. It is a university of life. The alumni are well aware of their position in the society. They are taught to be selfless, good mannered and most importantly trained to be proficient in their chosen professions”, she stressed. While noting that the 21st century women are untamable, unbeatable and indomitable, she challenged the girls to go back and initiate positive changes in their various communities.
While noting that she is determined to equip the girls with the right tools to succeed and protect them from harm, Mrs. Akeredolu further observed that there are challenges in the quest to make a difference in our society saying women have for too long endured an imbalance society where norms and traditions have been carefully constructed to keep their mouths sealed, their hands chained and wings clipped.
She also used the opportunity to thank all those that supported the initiative.
In his remarks, Prince Tunde Akindele from the Institute for National Transformation thanked Mrs. Akeredolu for coming up with the initiative saying Nigeria needs passionate people like her who are interested in the progress of the nation.
Walter Akpani, the Special Guest of Honour while appreciating Mrs. Akeredolu for embarking on the programme observed that BEMORE is a huge investment into the future of younger generations just as he urged participants to remember to give back to the society.
The event which also featured different presentations from BEMORE girls, climaxed with the presentation of laptops to the participants.
