A Taraba State socio-cultural group, the Taraba Peoples Assembly, TPA, has said every 21st of November remains a water shed in the political history of Taraba state as it signify a day the state was taken hundred steps backward through a controversial court judgement purchased by power
The group in a statement signed by its Coordinator, Martins Andekin said its four years since power Mongers used the Judiciary to truncate a people oriented government in the state.
The group said with recent happenings in the state Former Acting Governor and Leading Governorship Hopeful of the APC Alhaji Garba Umar UTC has been vindicated and can boastfully be refer to as ‘the Peoples Governor’ for his tremendous achievements during his two years in office.
‘Today UTC is vindicated, the people are now wise. They have seen that the political cabals never meant well for them, salaries are being owed, our cities are dirty, gratuity are not paid, pensioners are suffering. Nothing is working under the anti people regime in Taraba state.’
According to the group, posterity will never forget Alhaji Garba Umar UTC for his positive contribution to the development of modern Taraba.
‘It’s a sad memory in the political history of our state, a crooked judgement was shamily obtained at the Supreme court this day 2014 to grind the wheel of Taraba state progress, since that day the good works that was started by the Late governor Danbaba Suntai and was religiously followed by Alhaji Garba Umar UTC has suffered serious set backs.’
The group said the former acting governor in his two years administration, did a lot to allomirate the suffering of the ordinary masses which put him at logger head with political elites in the state, who finally ganged up against him.
The group said till date Alhaji Garba Umar truly remains the ‘Peoples Governor’ whose records his two successors never matched.
The group however restate its call for Governor Darius Ishaku to shun the toga of ethnicity and religious bigotry by recoginzing the two years administration the former governor, describing Ishaku’s refusal to recognize the two years administration of Umar as a disservice to history and posterity.
The group said Ishaku should shun political, religious and ethnic sentiments to pay Umar and his political appointees their severance allowances.
“Within the two years, Alhaji Umar completed various roads projects which includes the Jalingo-Sunkani-Garba Chede Road, a 72-kilometre stretch at N12.4 billion.
“The Bali-Sarti-Gembu a 237 kilometre Road embarked upon by Alhaji Umar two years administration is currently above 80 percent completion with N11.9 billion paid out of the N17 billion total cost.
“The Federal government verification team has certified and commended the contractor for a perfect job, while the State Government put in a claim of between N28 and N30 Billion for the projects.”
They stressed that it is morally wrong for Governor Ishaku to be benefiting from a regime he has refused to recognize, honour and punish anyone associated to it.
Andekin added: “It’s a fact that Alhaji Garba Umar piloted the affairs of Taraba State for two years under which ever circumstances, he governed and his humble efforts today are bringing good tides to the state.
“There’s no vacuum in government, UTC’s two years administration in Taraba left legacies of good projects many, governor Ishaku has ‘re commissioned’ as his projects because he has nothing to show for almost four years in office’
