Lagos State House Assembly has read for the second time a Bill for a Law to establish the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy.

The proposed bill aims to provide a platform for the development and nurturing of young persons for leadership purposes.

It also marks a pivotal moment in the Assembly’s ongoing effort to invest in the future leadership of Lagos State.

Describing the Bill as a step in the right direction, the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu stated that it will not only strengthen the State’s educational structure but add significant value to the existing system.

Hon. Aro Moshood noted that the Bill is a forward-thinking effort aimed at propelling Lagos State to greater heights. He suggested that the bill should emphasise innovation and entrepreneurship to enhance the capacity of future students.

Lending his voice, Hon. Femi Saheed expressed that the bill would strengthen diversity, promote the economy, and encourage youths to focus on their life goals and as well build the youth academically, culturally, and socially.

Supporting the bill, Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu emphasized the importance of critical thinking and innovation among the youth.

He urged the State to establish mechanisms for measuring feedback from the academy’s programmes to ensure its success.

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa thereafter committed the Bill to the Committee on Education to report its findings in two weeks.
