A delegation from the Home Office International Operations (HOIO) of the British High Commission in Nigeria, today, 17th September 2026, paid a condolence visit to the National Population Commission (NPC) at its Headquarters in Abuja over the death of its Chairman, Dr. Aminu Yusuf.
The delegation was led by the High Commission’s International Liaison Officer for Organised Immigration Crime, Ms. Hannah Chatterton.
In her remarks, Ms. Chatterton said the visit was to commiserate with the Commission on the loss of its Chairman, noting that the High Commission had worked very closely with the NPC and that the death came as a shock to the mission. She pledged that the High Commission would continue to work with the Commission towards the realisation of the late Chairman’s goals and objectives.
Responding on behalf of the Commission, the Federal Commissioner representing Ebonyi State, Dr. Jeremiah Ogbonna Nwankwagu, thanked the delegation for the visit and extolled the impact, strides, and achievements of the late Chairman within the Commission. He assured the visitors that the NPC would sustain the late Chairman’s 7-Point Agenda and continue to fill the gap left by his passing, while encouraging the High Commission to keep up its collaboration with the Commission.
The Director-General of the NPC, Dr. Abuh Mohammed, while giving the vote of thanks, appreciated the delegation for coming to commiserate with the Commission.
The visit was rounded off with a minute of silence observed in honour of the late Chairman, and prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul.
Key NPC officials present at the meeting included Federal Commissioners, the Director-General and management staff of the Commission.
