Just In: Lagos APC Loses Ex-Chief Scribe

A former State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state, Primate Charles Odugbesi is dead August24news.com has learnt.

Odugbesi died in early hours of Friday.

Confirming his death during a telephone conversation with August24news.com Senior political correspondent, AJAGBE ADEYEMI TESLIM, the Council Chairman of Igbogbo Bayeku Local Council Development Area, Mr Sesan Daini, said that he was not sick before his death but suddenly had heart attack, adding that he died around 2:30am midnight.

Meanwhile, Otunba Olasunkanmi Tijani, the Chairman, APC Ikorodu North LGA, in a statement issued on Friday, described Odugbesi’s death as a great loss.

“What a great loss. With total submission to the will of Almighty God, APC Ikorodu North LCDA announce the shocking and painful death of our leader and a former State Secretary of our Party, Primate Charles Odugbesi JP, which occurred early this morning, 7th July 2023. May his soul rest in peace.

“The burial arrangements will be announced later”, said Tijani.

Odugbesi served as the General Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for eight years.

He was the Director General of late Sen. Adebayo Osinowo Campaign and the Lagos East Senatorial leader of The Mandate Group.

The former Lagos APC State Secretary was known for writing open letter on issues to express his views.

His last letter was released few days ago to deny the allegation that The Mandate Group was opposed to the nomination of a particular Commissioner nominee from Ikorodu.

He aspired for the Ikorodu Federal House of Representatives seat under the APC in 2015.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Hon Oyinlomo Danmole has described the award of honorary Doctorate Degree of Literature ( History, Education,and Community Development) bestowed on Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi as well deserved and inspiring for those who will continue to learn from him.

He said that Prince Tajudeen Olusi deserves every honour due to years of his unrival selfless service to the development of Lagos State and the nation at large.

The management of the Lagos State University (LASU) announced the Award of Doctorate Degree of Literature, History, Education and Community Development on Prince Olusi at the 27th convocation of the institution held at the campus, Ojo.

LASU says the honour was in recognition to his service to humanity and contribution to national development.

Hon Danmole in a statement was of the view that the honour will inspire Prince Olusi, who is a prominent political and community leader to render more service to humanity especially the less privileged in the society.

He charged Lagosians and Nigerians at large to emulate the exemplary leadership roles of Prince Tajudeen Olusi towards positive development of the country.

Amuwo-Odofin 2: Appeal Court affirms Rauf’s Lagos Assembly election, dismisses LP suit

The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos, on Friday, dismissed the appeal filed by the Labour Party candidate, David Doherty, against Hon. Wale Rauf of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

August24news.com gathered that the judgement was celebrated on the official facebook page of the Lagos State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Cornelius Ojelabi.

The Appeal Court affirmed the ruling of the House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal which declared Rauf as the rightful winner of the Amuwo-Odofin Constituency 2 election conducted on March 18, 2023.

It also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Doherty and issue new one to Rauf of the APC.

Rauf would be returning to the House to serve as a second term lawmaker, having served between 2019 and 2023.

Our Correspondent had reported that the House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lagos, upturned the election of Doherty and declared Rauf as winner.

Doherty not satisfied with the ruling, approached the Court of Appeal.

BREAKING: 2 REJECTED AS LAGOS LAWMAKERS CONFIRM SANWO-OLU’S SECOND BATCH OF NOMINEES

The Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday confirmed 15 out of the second batch of 18 nominees sent by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu recently.



The confirmation happened after Hon. Mojeed Fatai, Chief Whip and chairman of the screening committee, laid a report of the exercise before the House.

At a sitting presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, the lawmakers rejected Engr. Olalere Odusote and Mr. Samuel Egube.

However, the House resolved to step down the confirmation of Hon. Tolani Sule Akibu for another day.

Dr. Obasa, commended the committee saying the members did a thorough job screening the nominees. His position was supported by the lawmakers present at plenary.
