Ughelli North Council boss felicitates residents on New Year Day

The Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Barr. Jaro Egbo has felicitated the good people of Ughelli North, Delta State on the dawn of a New Year, tagging 2026 a year of unprecedented increase, growth and upliftment.

 

 

 

In a New Year message released on Thursday through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Efe Ekete, the Council Boss stated that every new day in 2026 presents an opportunity for a fresh start to chasing one’s dreams and aspirations into reality. He admonished residents to focus on creating positive impact and lasting good memories in all their endeavours all through the year.

 

 

 

Barr Egbo reiterated his unflinching commitment to serving the people of Ughelli North, pledging to confront every challenge with vigour. He appealed to residents to support his administration through constructive criticism and feedback to foster meaningful progress, while seeking divine guidance for the Local Government’s advancement.

 

 

 

“May 2026 endow you with the courage, strength and wisdom to overcome obstacles and achieve your goals, wishing you a year filled with Joy and success,” Barr. Egbo prayed.

A prominent community leader, politician and entrepreneur of high repute, Chief Anthony Onwuka of Umuomahe Village, Obodogba Quarters, Okpanam, in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, has been installed as the Oza of Okpanam Kingdom.

 

The chieftaincy title was conferred on him by the traditional ruler of Okpanam Kingdom, HRM Dr. Michael Mbanefo Ogbolu, the Ugoani of Okpanam, at his palace, in the presence of notable chiefs of the Ugoani-in-Council, community leaders and guests from all walks of life.

 

Speaking at the ceremony, the Okpanam monarch described Chief Onwuka as morally upright and academically sound, noting that he was eminently qualified for the title. He added that the new Oza had consistently demonstrated uncommon passion and commitment to the development of Okpanam Kingdom.

 

In his remarks, the Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Council, Hon. Kelvin Ezenyili, described the title recipient as a kind-hearted and generous individual, stressing that the large turnout of guests and well-wishers was a testament to his character.

 

He congratulated Chief Onwuka on his conferment and prayed for peace and good health for the people of Oshimili South. On calls for him to aspire to higher political office in 2027, Ezenyili said his current focus was on finishing strong and delivering quality leadership.

 

Earlier, the Ikejani of Okpanam Kingdom, Chief Felix Okafor, popularly known as CEO Felinco Motors Worldwide, described Chief Onwuka as a dedicated and trustworthy partner in the growth of the Okpanam community, adding that the chieftaincy title was well deserved. He urged the youths of Okpanam to respect their elders and constituted authority, noting that the integrity and track record of the new Oza were commendable.

 

Also speaking, the Councilor representing Okpanam in Oshimili North, Hon. Eziuchebuogalanya Okonkwo, described Chief Onwuka as a pragmatic, reliable and dependable elder brother who is deeply concerned about the welfare of his people.

 

In a separate remark, a cousin of the celebrant and a Customs officer, Mr. Raphael Ebigwei, said Chief Onwuka, who was his schoolmate in Ibusa, is an unassuming, intelligent and accessible individual. He described the recognition by the traditional ruler as a welcome and well-earned honour.

 

Speaking with journalists, the new Oza of Okpanam Kingdom, Chief Anthony Onwuka, described the Oza title as service-oriented, saying it would provide him with a greater opportunity to contribute to peace, unity and sustainable development in the community. He advised youths to embrace education and skill acquisition, noting that there are numerous economic opportunities in the community beyond land sales.

 

Chief Onwuka further urged the people, particularly the youths, to always do what is right, remain close to God in 2026 and beyond, and assured that he would justify the confidence reposed in him by the traditional ruler and the good people of Okpanam Kingdom.
