Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday diffused the tension ushered in by protesters from Etegbin Community at the Assembly Complex over the illegal land acquisition encountered in their community.

The illegal acquisition is said to be conducted by Mr. Owonla Morufu, popularly known as KAKA; the spokesman for the Community, Mr. Mayegun Bolaji who led the protesters noted this in his statement.

He added that, “Kaka was hired by Alhaji Muraina Azeez who is an indigene but does not live within the community.”

He further stated that Alhaji Azeez claims to own the Etegbin community.

Appealing to the House to expeditiously intervene as the last demolition resulted in loss of lives in the community.

Mr. Mayegun positioned that, “some of the indigenes who suffered gunshot wounds are still hospitalised, while some are still in Police custody. That is why we are appealing to the Government and Mr. Speaker to come to our aid.”

Hon. Bisi Yusuff representing Alimosho 1, speaking on behalf of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Obasa, applauded the protesters that, “despite their grievances, they still coordinated themselves in a peaceful manner.”

Allaying their fears that the House will look into the matter, he urged them to submit their petition and the House would take up their concerns appropriately.
