LSHA ADOPTS RECOMMENDATIONS ON STATE ENFORCEMENT TRAINING INSTITUTE BILL, 2021

Lagos State House of Assembly has adopted the recommendations of the House Committee on Judiciary, Human Right, Public Petition & LASIEC on “A Bill for a Law to Establish the Lagos State Enforcement Training Institute, Provide for the Training of Law Enforcement Officers and for Connected Purposes”.

It would be recalled that a Public Hearing was held on Wednesday, 20th October, 2021, to seek inputs from Stakeholders and members of the public on the proposed Law.

The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. (Barr.) Olusegun Akande presenting the report on the floor of the House during Plenary, read the recommendations of the Committee, based on the memoranda submitted by stakeholders.

Hon. Tobun Abiodun raised the observation that women should be included in the Board members to encourage gender inclusivity.

Hon. (Engr.) Gbolahan Yishawu as well noted that, it should be stated in the Bill clearly who heads the Lagos State Enforcement Training Institute to avoid ambiguity.

Subsequently to the unanimous voice vote of the Members, the House adopted the recommendations of the Committee as the report of the House subject to amendments proposed.
